Developed by Dr. Rick Hanson, Neuro-psychologist and author of New York Times bestsellers’ Hardwiring Happiness, Neurodharma and Buddha’s Brain, this six-week Positive Neuroplasticity Training (PNT) builds understanding & skills for working with the negatively-biased brain and tricky nervous system, to soothe stress and to learn how to really savour and “take in the good” in skilful ways that cultivate more ease, peace, contentment, gratitude and connection.

PNT is the perfect training during the pandemic, a time when the already existing bias of the ‘default mode of mind’ to worry and ruminate can really be on overdrive! Over six weeks we practice our mindfulness skills, really honing in on the often neglected aspect of “wise effort.” How can we counter the brain’s tendency to accidentally “practice” worry and ruminating, so that we spend less time in the “Red Zone” of fight, flight and freeze states, and more time in the restorative “Green Zone?” How might we practice to help fleeting beneficial or enjoyable experiences and states become lasting neural traits?

Unlike “positive thinking” or affirmation strategies, these practices are embodied, with emotional intelligence at the core of this highly respected training. Rather than avoiding difficult emotions or experiences, the training shows us how to “be with” these in ways that are skilful and healing, including “linking” with carefully chosen opposite or antidote states.

While the training is suitable for beginning meditators, MBSR or MSC graduates will really appreciate the ways in which the PNT program builds on and deepens capacity for wise and compassionate living.
