Brené Brown's Rising Strong™ Retreat and Workshop

Sunday 1st October - Friday 6th October 2023
Gariwerd (Grampians) National Park, Victoria

“What a landscape, what a house, and those hikes through nature and wildlife were incredible! ... I can’t recommend this experience and learning highly enough to others. Maggie creates a safe place to feel into your life ‘wholeheartedly.’ If you are in a space in your life where you want things to be different and really take hold of life, then this is the work for you... It is transformational learning at its best.
— Melissa, Rising Strong Retreat participant, 2019

Join us in wildflower season for the six-day Brené Brown Rising Strong ™ Workshop and Retreat in the stunning Gariwerd (Grampians) National Park in Victoria. After the difficult Covid years, the opportunity to “Rise Strong” has never been more timely or healing. It combines Brown’s Rising Strong™ workshop curriculum (different but complementary to The Daring Way), together with daily yoga, mindfulness meditation, guided relaxation and deep rest, afternoon hikes in the stunning National Park, periods of silence, and delicious food and sharing around the table.

We will commence with an orientation at the Brambuk Cultural Centre before our arrival session at the beautifully designed Eagle Wings Rise property, set on 50-acres with bush and mountain views and typically dotted with mobs of emus and kangaroos. We will greet each morning with a gentle yoga/movement session, then hot breakfast, morning workshop, lunch, guided deep rest and relaxation session, before heading out for one of the renowned walks such as to the Pinnacle or Balconies in the nearby mountains. In the 5-night/6-day format, there is more time to really integrate the experiential learning that Brené is passionate about and which “fits” so closely with all the understandings from the world of mindfulness. In this way, we move from theory to actually taking up and integrating practices that really make a difference to the quality of our lives and relationships.

Rising Strong is about exploring – and potentially re-writing – the stories that we live by, often largely out of our conscious awareness. At its core is emotional intelligence, including specific strategies and steps for grappling with challenges and picking ourselves up again when we experience the inevitable losses, set-backs, failures, or cross-roads that are bound to occur when we truly dare to live and love wholeheartedly.

In my own life as a partner, mother of three daughters, Relationship Therapist, and mindfulness practitioner and teacher, I have found Brené’s work to strike a deep chord especially in helping to understand and work more constructively with the fears that can keep us playing life safe, but small. I love her research and TED talks however I agree with Brené herself that, like mindfulness, it is only when the theory becomes integrated into our daily lives in practical ways, that it has the power to transform.
