Daring to Rest, Listen & Be … a new 6-week Program

 

To be alive and walk on the Earth is a miracle, and yet most of us are running as if there were some better place to get to… Our mind is filled with noise, and that’s why we can’t hear the call of life, the call of love.  Our heart is calling us, but we don’t hear…

As we approach the home stretch of the year – with the inevitable “running” and rushing that seems to come with it – how would you like to join a new 6-week program practicing deep rest, listening and being?  “Daring” to let go of our busy-ness, perfectionism and what sleep doctor Rubin Naiman calls “addiction to wakefulness” to stop and listen to the inner call of our own bodies and hearts. Each session we will start down on the floor, wrapped in a blanket and guided through a practice of Deep Rest meditation.  Between the sessions we will continue this thread with a guided daily Rest & journaling session at home, supported by a Podcast or reading on the theme of the session.

This program will be adapted from Karen Brody’s 40-day Daring to Rest program, which comes from the world of Yoga Nidra and in particular Richard Miller’s work of Integrative Restoration (IRest), that is showing promising results in terms of healing from trauma & enhancing levels of ease, well-being and joy. In this 6-week program for MBSR & MSC graduates, I will be adapting the practices so that they fit well within our usual mindfulness context, as well as adding in some complementary practices from the programs of: Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction; Mindful Self Compassion; & Positive Neuroplasticity Training.

There will also be the opportunity to explore your own sleep & dream patterns and become more aware and responsive to stages and phases of both sleep & wakefulness.


The Program

Session 1: Daring to “let go,” Daring to Rest
Session 2: “Falling in Love with Sleep”
Session 3: Deep Listening (to body, heart & interpersonally)
Session 4: Releasing, “letting be”
Session 5: Awareness (including opposites & “antidotes”)
Session 6: Living Intention, Living on Purpose


Hawthorn Program

Location: SWell Centre, 2 Minona St Hawthorn

When: Term 4, Thursday evenings 6 X 3 hour sessions (including Tea break), 5:30-8:30pm from Thursday 18th October

Fee: Full $449 Earlybird (paid before 11th Oct) /  $499 (after 11th Oct)
Concession $349 Earlybird (before 11th Oct) / $399 (after 11th Oct). 
“Frequent Flyers” (2 or more previous courses with Maggie, please take a further $30 off whatever fee you are paying!)

 

Castlemaine Program

Location: The Forge, 341 Barker St Castlemaine

When: Wednesdays, 6 X 3 hour sessions (including Lunch Break), 11:30am-2:30pm, from 17th October
